High Altitude Lidar Observatory

Status

Operated By
PI

The NASA Langley High-Altitude Lidar Observatory (HALO) is used to characterize distributions of atmospheric composition. From an airborne platform, the HALO instrument provides nadir-viewing profiles of water vapor, methane columns, and profiles of aerosol and cloud optical properties.

Instrument Type
Lidar
Measurements
water vapor profiles,
methane columns and profiles,
Aerosol Depolarization Ratio,
Aerosol Scattering Ratio,
Aerosol Backscattering,
Aerosol Extinction
