Genesis and Rapid Intensification Processes (GRIP) Mission

The Genesis and Rapid Intensification Processes (GRIP) mission, conducted during the 2010 Atlantic hurricane season, aims to better understand how tropical storms form and intensify into major hurricanes. Three NASA research aircraft were used in the mission; the DC-8, the WB-57 high altitude platform, and the Global Hawk Unmanned Aerial System (UAS).
