The objective for Flight 16-9040 was to fly over the methane leak in Porter Ranch, CA to confirm that the leak is sealed. The pilot commented that it was a “perfect weather day”. The weather was clear at the target area. There were scattered thin clouds above 30,000 ft. Flight altitude was 29,000 ft. Ground speed for the lines was from 110 to 125 kts. The winds were as predicted; direction of flight lines worked well. The pilot flew seven lines as planned. Run #5 started about 10 minutes before solar noon. After the science portion of the flight, the pilot flew his proficiency requirements. Dean Neeley was the pilot.
