Comments:
The objective for flight 16-9038 was to under-fly the MISER instrument aboard the Terra Satellite over the CA Central Valley. All “lines” were covered according to plan. For AirMSPI-1, the ER-2 airspeed was held at 402 kts +or- 1 kt. The air was smooth with temperature between -57 deg to -59 deg F. Under-flight of the Terra Satellite was within 4 sec. Mike Garay from the AirMSPI team said that Tim nailed the under-pass. Tim said there were no cirrus clouds but there were persistent contrails (10-12 minutes or about 100 miles). The contrails started to fill in. These contrails would look opaque through a polarimeter. All instruments performed as expected – no issues.
