Airborne Science Office
The Airborne Science Office at NASA Ames Research Center is responsible for program analysis and requirements definition future airborne observation systems. Past reports include a requirements analysis and the Ice Bridge scoping study. In addition, this office maintains the flight request management system as well as the ASP portal to solicit information from the community on future missions, as well as to inform the public about the activities of the program.
ESPO
The Earth Science Project Office performs project management for large multi-aircraft campaigns providing planning, implementation and post mission support in a complex, multi-agency national and international environment. They assist in site location and preparation, communications, meteorological support and data management. Because they represent NASA in negotiations for use of facilities, they develop international agreements as needed and handle the often complex logistics for fielding scientific and technical personnel and equipment. We coordinate the shipping requirements often obtaining military airlift support required for rapid deployment of equipment. In close concert with our HQ customers we develop and track the overall budget for the resources required to mount the field campaigns. We also work with NASA Public Affairs offices to coordinate press access and press activities associated with the field missions.
